Taiece Geiger

I came to SOUL to gain knowledge and experience about different ways to overcome oppression. For centuries all over the world people have fought and won or are still fighting. I want to learn about their different strategies and tactics.

Tai has been a member of New York City's FIERCE for five years, organizing with other young queer people in campaigns against police discrimination & gentrification, and for the right to public space. This summer she is joining the fight against displacement here in Oakland, supporting organizing against bank foreclosures and utility shut-offs with Causa Justa::Just Cause.

Valerie Jameson

From SOUL Summer School I will take with me the will to continue the fight for the liberation of our people. ¡Para Todos Todo!

Valerie started organizing in her community of Richmond, California as a high school student, with Macehualli and the Stop the Raids coalition, in campaigns for student and immigrant rights. This summer she continues her work for justice in the East Bay, supporting Causa Justa::Just Cause as they build their base of Oakland residents, and fight for affordable housing & living wage jobs.

Yaminah Lunar

My favorite thing about the SOUL summer program is all the people I have met, from such a wide range of experience and perspectives. I'm lucky to get a chance to know them and learn from them.

Minah is an active member of Anakbayan East Bay, a youth & student organization that organizes here in solidarity with the youth & student movement in the Philippines. This summer she is working with the Filipino Community Center in San Francisco, organizing alongside immigrant domestic workers & caregivers, in support of ongoing campaigns for fair wages & decent working conditions.
